Hi everyone, as you know, our team set out to build INKR Comics with one simple vision: Making comics universally accessible.
That means we're focusing on:
- Licensing many comic titles from publishers and creators
- Delivering a great reading experience through our apps
- And keeping the prices affordable for readers
Licensed content costs (a lot) of money: upfront minimum guarantee paid to the license holders, localization costs for titles that are not yet in English, packaging costs to ensure the titles look great, and monthly revenue-sharing with creators and publishers etc. to name a few expenses.
To ensure that everyone involved in the process of bringing amazing comics to you is fairly compensated (so that we all get more and more amazing content to read), we need to figure out ways to earn money from the content in INKR Comics, without making it so expensive that it's out of reach for most people.
At launch, we designed INKR Comics to be accessible to both free and paid readers. Many chapters are ad-supported, others require a subscription to INKR Extra, and some require coins to unlock.
As a distributor, we do not have control over how the content is priced. We can only respect the content owners' choice of pricing. So as much as want to make a lot of content completely free-to-read for everyone, we legally can't.
That's why our team has instead worked incredibly hard and introduced Ink our in-app free-to-earn currency so that you are also able to enjoy INKR Extra and Coin chapters. INKR Extra members can trade Ink for Coins to unlock latest chapter; while non-members can use Ink to get temporary access to INKR Extra chapters.
If you want to support the creators further (and simply don't like ads or have the time to earn ink), you can always subscribe to INKR Extra or pay for coins directly.
Regardless of the way you read INKR Comics, thank YOU for supporting us and making comics more accessible day by day.
